Upside Down Apple Pie

✰✰✰✰✰

Prep time: approximately 15 Minutes

Baking time: approximately 30-40 Minutes

Don't forget to get these things out before you start baking!!

  • Oven safe large skillet

  • Large serving plate

  • Rolling pin

  • Cutting Board

  • Food processor

  • Pre heat oven to 425 degrees

^ Ingredients

  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples

  • 3/4 cups of white sugar

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, plus four table spoons

  • 2.5 cups of flour

  • 0.5 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar

  • 7 tablespoons of ice water

^ Step 1

Peel, core, and cut into large quarter pieces.

^ Step 2

To make the dough place flour, salt, cubed butter, vinegar, and water into your food processor.

^ Step 3

Pulse the ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs, about 10 pulses!

^ Step 4

Take out the dough onto a cutting board and gently roll the dough flat into a circle diameter of 10-12 inches. Then poke holes into the dough so it allows for air flow while baking!

^ Step 5

In your large skillet, add 1 cup of sugar and 4 cubes of butter until melted

^ Step 6

Shut off heat and place the apples, round side down in a circular pattern. Once all apples are placed, turn the heat back on to medium high and allow the sugar to caramelize. Be careful not to burn the sugar!! Remove from heat once the caramel color is a deep gold color

^ Step 7

Carefully place the dough over the apples, tucking in the sides. Be careful because the pan will be hot!!!

^ Step 8

Bake the pie in the middle of the oven for 30-40 minutes depending on your oven. Let the pie cool for 5 minutes then place a large serving plate over the pan, and with oven gloves on, flip the pan over so that the apples come loose from the pan. And voila you're all done!!

^ Our Review!

We adore this pie!! The crust was perfectly baked and the apples tasted sooooo yummy!!! The caramelization of the sugar and butter adds a luxurious taste and flavor to an otherwise ordinary apple pie. This recipe is so easy to make at home and ends up tasting like heaven on earth. I could eat all of it by myself!
