Traze Pizza
Traze thinks outside the pizza box with falafel and breakfast pie
Included In
There are few better ways to start a morning than with leftover cold pizza. Maybe that’s what inspired Traze Pizza, a 10-year-old pop-up, to offer a trio of breakfast slices at its new brick-and-mortar in Long Island City.
The Scorpion Sfincione—a vegan, Sicilian street food-inspired slice that’s no-joke spicy, and has a beautifully browned sesame crust—is a highlight. But it’s the Elvis slice we find ourselves daydreaming about. This maximalist homage to the King’s favorite sandwich, with mozzarella, bananas, bacon, peanuts, and a maple peanut butter drizzle, is sweet but remarkably well balanced. Not a single one of those assertive flavors drowns out the rest. Traze’s breakfast slices are $6 and available till around 11am. After that, you can order off a full menu of grandma-style pies—we’ll go back to try their popular falafel pizza.
