Between the weekend hordes at The Abbey and fashionistas lining up for sample sales, the heart of West Hollywood is no stranger to sidewalk crowds. But none of them compare to what’s happening at Something About Her. Wait times at this counter-service sandwich shop average around an hour. And if you’re wondering why, it’s because the urge to meet a reality TV star and post on TikTok is that strong these days. No one is waiting in line for a good sandwich, however—those don’t exist here.

On our latest visit to Something About Her, we showed up at 10am, right as they opened. We were the second group in line (phew), ordered quickly, and waited in the overdesigned, HGTV-explosion of a dining room. Which, admittedly, is the least gaudy of the Vanderpump Rules properties.

After 15 minutes, our sandwiches were ready. Not too shabby. Unfortunately, the good vibes evaporated quickly once we unwrapped them. Despite being the second order of the day, the baguette was so chewy and tough it was difficult to gnash our teeth through. Order The Diane, topped with equally dry tuna salad, and you’ll need a Boxed Water just to get the thing down.

At best, the sandwiches at Something About Her—all assigned the first name of famous actresses—are on par with what you’d get from a convention center luncheon. If there’s a highlight (relatively speaking) it’d be The Viola, a decently built sandwich with smoked turkey, chipotle mayo, roasted red pepper, gouda, and balsamic onion marmalade. There’s too much going on, but at least there’s flavor. The bread falls short again, though—this time it’s supermarket-tier sourdough cooked on a panini press until hard and brittle.

If you’re a big Bravo fan or are in LA without any clue what to do after 15 minutes at the Walk of Fame, Something About Her will probably make you happy (or at least give you something to talk about). But if you want a sandwich worth getting excited about, don’t let the line fool you.

Food Rundown

The Viola

Like the actual actress, The Viola is the best of the bunch here. Unlike the actual actress, though, nobody is giving this sandwich an award.

The Diane

The Sahara Desert of tuna salad sandwiches.

The Drew

The menu says this sparsely filled goat cheese, jam, and apple sandwich comes on an “artisan baguette.” No offense to that artisan, but it’s time for a career change.

Daily Pastries

Don't.
